12 IN 30

Are you tired of the same old song and dance of making New Years resolutions that you never keep? If so, read on while our guest blogger Holly Costello introduces "12 IN 30". 12 IN 30 is for those of you that are fearful of keeping a resolution for 365 days. You know the feeling, when December 31st of the following year rolls around, you feel disappointment when looking back on the resolutions that you never kept. That's out the window. Gone with the wind. Holly explains a simple concept for setting a goal - or an intention - and sticking with it for 30 days.

But first let me introduce you to Holly:

12 IN 30:
 The end of December is my favorite time of the year. Not because Christmas is over, and we are closer to longer days, just for the simple fact that it is almost the new year! I see the new year as a clean, fresh beginning and a chance to try something new, kick a bad habit, or begin a new lifestyle. I like hitting re-set and starting with a clean slate.
 I’ve had some ideas before about a project that lasted 365 days, or a 335 day challenge. But quite honestly, I do better with a smaller time frame. If you tell me I can’t have something for a year (like a pop) it makes me want it that much more! Which led me to my latest idea 12 IN 30. The philosophy behind this idea is simple; 12 challenges accomplished in thirty days. Each month you pick a new challenge and stick with it for thirty days. Then, at the end of the year you have   12 *new* challenges!!
 Now don’t think these need to be extremely hard challenges, or that you need to tackle 3-4 things at once. Simply pick one habit/challenge and commit to it for thirty days. The idea is that you try or stop something for one month.
 Why will this work? Think of it as 12 personal victories! Accomplishing each small goal means you are that much closer to the bigger picture of your personal confidence. It will make you feel more proficient in your life.
 You don’t need to have all twelve challenges picked out by December 31st, but as you get to the end of January, you’ll probably have an idea of what you want to challenge yourself to do during February.
 Here are some of my goals for the new year-
* Drink more water and no pop!
* Exercise 6 days a week.
* Clean for 15 mins. a day.
* Plan and make freezer meals.
 So choose a challenge and make a thirty day commitment today! I’m starting with exercising 6 days a week! - Holly
